Natural Ways Of Coping With An Ant Invasion

It can be very irritating when ants decide to invade your home. Ants can make it impossible for you to store food items away without worrying about whether or not it will be damaged by ants in search of food. If you find yourself facing this problem, you might want to try some natural solutions for pest control to see if you can curb the problem before it gets out of control. Here are some tips.

Four Natural Solutions

The materials you need to get rid of ants in your home are affordable and easy to find. Some of them you may already have in your home.

  1. Peppermint

Ants hate the flavor of peppermint and tend to move on from anywhere where it is heavily sprayed. Mix some peppermint oil with water and spray it directly on the ants or anywhere in your home that they love to visit.

     2. Coffee Grounds

Ants hate the smell of coffee grounds. If you have an ant problem then you can brew some coffee and save the grounds for sprinkling in areas where ants enter your home of wherever there is a nest.

    3. Cornmeal

Ants love to eat cornmeal and will quickly carry it back to their nests to eat. However, since they cannot digest it, their stomachs will begin to swell and eventually burst, killing them. Cornmeal is one of the most child friendly ways of getting rid of these pests.

    4. Lemon juice

Lemon Juice is also very effective at removing ants from your home. If you spray lemon juice on an ant trail that is entering your home, the acid will affect their sense of tracking and prevent the entire colony from getting into your home.

Identify The Scouts To Prevent Re-invasion

After you get rid of the ants you will need to be able to identify the signs of re-invasion before they occur. The main thing you should know is that right before ants start invading your house you will begin noticing a few ants in your home. These ants may seem like strays but they are actually on a mission. They are scouting out your home to find out if it is a good source of food. If you can find them and kill them quickly, then they will not be able to go back and carry the rest of the colony with them.

Getting rid of ants naturally without exposing you or your family to harmful insecticides is one of the best solutions if you find yourself dealing with an ant invasion.
